Built on Daiwa’s LT (Light & Tough) Concept, the Daiwa Procyon LT delivers a premium spinning reel platform that is significantly lighter and more rigid than conventional spinning reels at its price point. The body is constructed from Zaion Daiwa’s proprietary high-density carbon composite material that is 20% stronger and 50% lighter than traditional nylon and aluminum providing a rigid, lightweight framework for the powerful internal components without the weight penalty of aluminum-bodied reels.
The Air Rotor is 15% lighter than conventional rotors while maintaining equivalent strength, reducing rotational inertia for faster line pickup and more responsive feel on the retrieve. The ATD (Automatic Tournament Drag) system uses a proprietary grease formulation that delivers smooth, consistent drag pressure from the first pull eliminating the start-up inertia that causes line breaks on the initial run of large fish. Digigear technology uses cold-forged aluminum gears for a silky-smooth retrieve that maintains precision over extended use.
Key Features
- Zaion Body (LT Concept) High-density carbon composite body is 20% stronger and 50% lighter than traditional nylon and aluminum; provides a rigid framework for precise internal component alignment without the weight of aluminum-bodied reels.
- Air Rotor 15% lighter than conventional rotors while maintaining equivalent strength; reduced rotational inertia delivers faster line pickup, more responsive feel, and reduced fatigue during extended casting sessions.
- ATD (Automatic Tournament Drag) Proprietary grease formulation delivers smooth, consistent drag pressure from the first pull; eliminates start-up inertia that causes line breaks on the initial run of large fish.
- Digigear Cold-forged aluminum gears accurately cut for silky-smooth operation and long-term precision; maintains smooth retrieve performance over extended use.
- Machined Aluminum Handle Rigid machined aluminum handle smoothly transfers power to the Digigear system; provides a solid, precise feel during the retrieve.
- 6BB + 1RB Bearing System 6 ball bearings plus 1 roller bearing for ultra-smooth operation across all retrieve speeds.

Model Selection Guide
- LT 2500D-XH Mid-size spinning reel for light to medium freshwater applications; best for bass on light to medium presentations, trout, panfish, and general freshwater spinning on 612 lb line. XH (Extra High) gear ratio for fast line pickup.
- LT 4000D-CXH Larger capacity spinning reel for medium to heavy freshwater and light saltwater applications; best for bass on heavier presentations, inshore saltwater, and applications requiring more line capacity. CXH (Compact Extra High) combines a compact body with extra high gear ratio.
Best For
- Freshwater Bass & Trout Zaion body and Air Rotor reduce weight for all-day casting comfort; ATD drag handles the runs of large bass and trout without start-up inertia causing line breaks.
- Light & Medium Spinning Applications LT Concept construction delivers a reel that is significantly lighter than conventional spinning reels at this price point; ideal for anglers who prioritize weight reduction for extended casting sessions.
- Finesse & Technique Fishing Digigear precision and Air Rotor responsiveness provide the sensitivity and smooth retrieve needed for finesse techniques where feel and line control are critical.
- Light Inshore Saltwater (4000D-CXH) 4000 size with CXH gear ratio handles light inshore saltwater applications; ATD drag and Zaion body provide the performance needed for inshore species on light to medium tackle.
