The Shimano Antares 2019 is a robust baitcasting reel and comes in two versions. The reel consists of a magnesium Hagane body and a 34mm MGL III aluminum spool, which is also suitable for use with FC lines. With a gear ratio of 6.2:1 and a resulting line retrieve of 66cm/crank revolution, or 79cm/crank revolution at 7.4:1, this reel is ideally suited for medium-weight pike fishing. It offers a maximum drag of 5kg and weighs 220g. It is perfectly suitable for lures up to and including the DEPS SlideSwimmer 175. The 34cm MGL III spool with the 8-pin SVS braking system allows for extremely relaxed casting distances and offers sufficient line capacity for FC enthusiasts. We recommend the Seaguar R18 LTD , the test winner among FC lines from Japan, as a suitable line.
