What the “+” Provides

• Extra Lifting Power: A Medium+ (M+) rod will have more pulling power than a standard Medium, making it better for horsing fish out of cover, but it won’t be as stiff as a true Heavy rod.

• Wider Lure Range: These rods are often designed to handle a slightly broader range of lure weights, allowing you to throw heavier baits without overloading the blank.

• Specific Technique Tuning: For example, the 7’0″ Light+ (L+) is designed to provide the finesse of a light rod for detecting bites, but with the extra “oomph” needed to set the hook firmly in deeper water or heavier current.
